Psychotherapist & Counsellor

At times in our lives we can feel over-whelmed, that we’re not coping, when depression and anxiety can take over. We end up feeling stuck, not knowing what to do next

Old patterns of behaviour and coping strategies, which were once effective, may now function as a stumbling block in our lives

About Sinéad

Hello and welcome, my name is Sinéad and I am a fully qualified (BSc. in Counselling & Psychotherapy, BSc. in Physics) and IACP accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist. I believe that in a safe setting with the attentive presence of another, each person has the innate ability to find the direction they must move in to achieve a life with more ease. To meet these unique needs I use an Integrative approach, adopting my style to the individuality of each person and their situation.

I have worked with many individuals whose presenting issues included anxiety, depression, grief, life challenges and changes, addiction, low self-esteem, sexuality, as well as many other emotional and behavioural difficulties. I have particular interest in the areas of trauma, attachment and loss.

In recent years I have followed a growing movement in Body Oriented Psychotherapy. I have completed further training and workshops in the areas of Somatics and Body Centred Therapy, enriching the way in which I work with trauma and attachment issues.

Over time therapy has the potential to expand self-acceptance,creating a more positive and fulfilling way of relating to ourselves, others, and our lives

How I Work

I create a safe, warm and compassionate space where you can examine all aspects of your current life difficulties. Through exploration of your emotional and psychological distress, within the context of past and present experiences and relationships, you arrive at a deeper understanding of the dynamics of your current problem, and of yourself.  We explore why old patterns of behaviour were created, enabling you to choose new ways of being.

As we work together our relationship becomes a way of growing your awareness of how you might be relating to others and experiencing the world around you. From this place of understanding we work collaboratively, accessing your inner resources and identifying the best way to bring about positive, meaningful change.
